People always ask me "Why Yolinna?".  When I was
growing up, my little brother called me Linna since he
couldn't pronounce his D's until he got older.  
Somehow the name stuck.  When I began teaching
yoga, people would ask me what kind of yoga I
teach.  Since I really didn't fit into any one category
as you will discover, I would jokingly say it's
Yoga-Linda, which over time got shortened to
Yo-linna.  Yolinna Spirit is a result of many years of
seeking and studying and being led to wonderful
mentors who helped me along the way.  My hope is
to share the light that I have received to all who are
seeking.  

I have come to realize that my mission in life is to
create. To use my gifts to help people learn to accept
their own.  To bring a fresh perspective to us cynical
old Americans.  To create an atmosphere of
acceptance and safety and tolerance whereever I go.
 
Marianne Williamson, author of "ACourse in
Miracles" writes:  

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond
measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that frightens
us.

We ask ourselves 'who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented and fabulous?'
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so
that other people won't feel insecure around
you. We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission
to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our
presence automatically liberates others.

It is my goal to honor this philosophy in order to give
other's the freedom to honor themselves.  I will use
my light to light the way for others.  That's my
mission.  That's my path.  That's my calling.

Reading Recovery, which is an intervention for first grade
students who are at risk of not learning to read. I tutor eight
students each day and they do learn to read! I have a new
home-based business. I became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in
the summer of 2007. I have been stamping for 10 years and love
the relaxation that comes with concentrating on my craft. My
husband, Dwaine, is my business consultant! My daughter,
Christa, is a student at the University of Maryland. My son, I
am a wife, mother and elementary school teacher. I teach
Robbie, is 16 and has recently received his driver's license. My
friends, Linda and Sheree, have been teaching me how to lead a
spiritual life. I am learning about yoga, Reiki, the Tao, Soul
Collage and, most of all, Jesus. We started a group called Spirit
and Self Discovery to bring opportunities to relax, restore and
rejuvenate to our church community. I am a card carrying left
wing, bleeding heart liberal democrat and I can not tolerate war.

Who I am?  I am...
a 7 yr old that knows trauma
a 13 yr old that knows the ache of death by suicide,  
an 18 y.o. that says I DO,
a 21 y.o that welcomes her first child and then 5 more,
a 33 y.o who earns her Bachelor's,
a 35 y.o.who teaches kindergarten,
a 37 y.o. who joins a band
a 38 y.o. who takes on a new career as fitness expert and life coach
And a 44 y.o who knows that these events do not define her but add to the scenery for this journey she is
on.   I am alive and well, living abundantly because of the choice then ACTION to not just redefine who I
am, but to embrace who I am.  I am me and I am fine with that.  And I am fine with you.  May you be also.
