Yolinna Spirit Readings
AFavorite Story:

A wise woman who was
traveling in the
mountains found a
precious stone in a
stream. The next day she
met another traveler who
was hungry, and the wise
woman opened her bag to
share her food.

The hungry traveler saw
the precious stone and
asked the woman to give it
to him. She did so without
hesitation. The traveler
left, rejoicing in his good
fortune. He knew the
stone was worth enough
to give him security for a
lifetime. But a few days
later he came back to
return the stone to the
wise woman.

"I've been thinking," he
said, "I know how
valuable the stone is, but I
give it back in the hope
that you can give me
something even more
precious. Give me what
you have within you that
enabled you to give me the
stone."

Here's an excerpt from my newsletter: 5 Easy Pieces.... of Mind....
(or what to do when the monkey mind won't simmer down)

1.  Journal.  Grab a spiral notebook, the plainer the better.  You don't want to have to be
intimidated by a pretty wrapper into thinking you have to write your great novel.  A 50 cent
notebook is all you need.  Sit down and perform a mind dump.  Every single thought that pops up,
no matter how silly or scary, write it down.  Aim for 3 pages.  Everyday.  You will be amazed and
very entertained by what you find.  Don't think you have time?  Try it and then notice how much
more efficient the rest of your day is when you are bogged down with the constant clutter of
second guessing yourself.

2.
Yoga.  Well, what did you think I would say?  If you absolutely cannot make it to class, take a
10 minute yoga break.  Don't think you can remember the poses?  Ahhh, that's just your mind
undermining you.  Tell it to ssssh and put yourself in a forward bend.  Doesn't that feel nice?  Now
what about cat/cow/child? A bit of DownDog to Plank to Tree, hug your knee to your chest and
skip to relaxation...with breath as your mantra...mmmm.

3.
Gratitude.  Usually my mind is working very hard to make me have a strong case of the "poor
me's"  Taking a moment to write down 5 things that I am grateful for really makes a difference.  I
use a beautiful red and gold journal for this, makes me think lovely thoughts and write them down.
At the top of the page I write the date and
Thank you God for... Somedays it's as simple as breath,
other days I can go on and on.  If I can't think of anything, I just read the previous entries and
realized how very blessed I am.  It's a real mind shifter.  Try it.

4.
Pick a Card, any Card.  When I get really bogged down in mind, sometimes the only thing I
can do is surrender.  I take out one of my card decks i.e. Osho Zen, Reiki Cards, Animal Medicine
Cards, my daughter's Mermaid Oracles, whichever feels right at the time.  I say to the Universe,
"Ok, Universe, let me have it... what am I missing?" Nine times out of ten it will tell me exactly
what I need to hear.  On the tenth time?  I just pick another card.  Or choose another deck.  Or get
a full reading.  It's amazing to me how enlightening it is to have a card tell me what I already know
to be true but just can't get to it because of all my monkey mind chatter.  Don't have a deck?
Schedule a reading with me or go to
my links page.  You'll find lots of online reading sources there.

5.
Distraction.  During really difficult times, when all else has failed, I allow myself to give up.
Put down the lofty ideas of enlightenment for a moment and just roll in the grass, so to speak.  Pull
out my hammock, pick up a delightfully trashy book or sudoku puzzle and lose myself for awhile.
I recently spent an entire week doing nothing.  It was wonderful and just what I needed.  I came
back.  That's it.  I, who I really am, came back.  She had been missing in action for a time. In
Martha Beck's The Joy Diet, the very first chapter explains how important it is to learn to do
nothing.  In fact, you can't go to the rest of the diet until you learn to do it.  Indulge yourself in
cloud watching, listening to rock music, or a rollicking game of monopoly...alone, be all the
players.  Try it-- You're guaranteed to win.

What can you tell me about Tarot Readings?

From Linda:  For the last 30 years I have played with and studied Tarot cards,
starting with the traditional Rider-Waite deck.  My friends and I would do fun
readings, sometimes marveling at the coincidences, never really taking it all that
seriously.  I discovered that I had a knack for reading the cards, intuitively knowing
just what they might be saying.  It became a fun game at a party to see if I could
surprise and amaze my guests (and myself)

During a particularly difficult time in my life,  I discovered the Osho Zen Deck.  I
just loved the colors and pictures and how the cards 'spoke' to me.  I spent many
years just picking a card a day, getting a deep understanding of the cards-- and
myself. I began doing readings for my friends, having fun with the process and
being amazed at how powerful and insightful the readings could be.

Along the way,  I have encountered many who are actually afraid of tarot for
religious reasons.  Being brought up Southern Baptist, I can certainly understand.
I have done a lot of soul searching and have come to believe that God speaks to
us in whatever form we can hear.  I know that there have been many times when I
have been confused.. am I doing the right thing? When I turn to the deck and open
myself to the answers, they are there. I don't believe in fortune telling, but I do
believe that tarot is very useful for those who are looking for insights and for
confirmation that the path they are on is one best suited for them.  I do not believe
that they necessarily predict the future, only that they will bring you knowledge of
who you are, where you've been, where you are heading and how best to get there.

Over the years, I have had remarkable readings for myself and others that have
taken our breath away with how perceptive the cards can be.   When I look for an
"Aha" moment, sometimes tarot is the best tool in my wellness storehouse.

"Maturity"

I had been picking a
card a day for 2 years
before this one came
up.  What do you think
the odds of that are?

I decided it took me
that long to find the
maturity I needed to
truly understand the
card.

It's a beauty, isn't it?
